Gummy McGee is now Toothy Tootherson

I just now spotted April's first tooth! This explains why she and I had to spend the night in the spare bed last night. She's had two little white marks on her lower gum for ages but apparently it took chewing on a toy while waiting in a really long line at Aldi to get the little bugger to come out.

Tales from the Crib

1) Yesterday Kimmy caught me getting into the m&ms we use to reward her potty training. "My croppet!" she exclaimed, and I had to pretend I was just getting some out to reward her pottying. An hour earlier.

2) Yesterday morning Kimmy spotted some wrapped Christmas presents I had stashed in the basement. She was pretty excited so I showed her how we put them under the tree. For the next hour she kept bringing me a present and asking if we could open it. Which, if you must know, sounds like "Boppit, peese, boppit?" I told her we had to wait for Christmas to open them and she cheerfully put them back under the "Chrissy tree". I thought we were doing ok at this whole delayed gratification thing until the microwave timer went off to signal potty-time. She exclaimed, "It Chrissy!!!" and wanted to open presents. I explained AGAIN.

Later, Kit came home from work and she eagerly showed him the presents and asked to open them. "We have to wait for Christmas," he told her.

"Okay! One, two, ree, bore, bive, six, se-yen, eight, nine, ten! Chrissy!!"

So she has the waiting down, but clearly we still have some work to do.

3) Here's April's sniffy face. She scrunches up her nose and snifffs really fast, like she's got some intensive smelling to do. It's way cute.
4) Here are my little girlios. Elapsed time between these two photos: approximately 1.2 seconds.

5) This is my 100th post.

Kimmy does sound effects

I was working on something the other day when I realized Kimmy was trying to get my attention by whistling and snapping her fingers. Except she can't do either one.

She snaps by rubbing her fingers together and making a clicking noise with her mouth. She whistles by making a sort of shrill "Reee-oooh" noise. Having her try to do both at once was interesting.

She's pretty fascinated with birds lately. Her white noise machine/clock radio has a "Tropical Forest" setting that she insists on at bedtime. It has a lot of bird noises in it. The other night we put her to bed and then went downstairs, where we could hear her singing along with the birds. "Tweet, tweet! Reee! Erree! Oooh! Tweet!"

. . .And now Kimmy insists on writing you all a message:

The Rest of Thursday

After Kimmy got back from preschool we put a face on the big pumpkin. She insisted on making it look like the face on her candy bucket.
She liked pulling the carved pieces out.
The finished pukkies!

And here she is, ready to take the neighborhood by storm

Super Kimmy!
Yes, I did make the outfit. I'm sure you can tell I'm not the greatest seamstress, but honestly I wasn't too stressed about the whole thing. The Super Kimmy logo was designed by Kit. I printed it out on an iron-on transfer paper. It glowed in the dark!
Holy Cow. She got So. Much. Candy. And she was only out for an hour. Some people in our neighborhood brought their fire pits to the front yard and the place was packed.

So Far Today

Here's what we did this morning. We carved Kimmy's pumpkin she picked out at the pumpkin patch with her preschool class. I can only imagine how much fun she had there. A couple days earlier we bought some pumpkins at the store and she was kissing them as we rolled through the produce section.

Here she is with her pumpkin.
She was very enthusiastic about the gutting.
And, just for her cousin Jackson, here's a shot of her YUCKY HANDS!She drew part of the face. It's a "Happy Pace!" She knows all about circles. You go "around and stop."
Then April woke up from her nap. She's always happy to see that we haven't forgotten about her.
Then we started cleaning "Mommy's pumpkin." It is quite a bit bigger. When Kimmy gets home from preschool we will finish carving it and then prepare for Trick-Or-Treating. Yes, today. Our town frowns on kids having too much fun on a weekend, so they have the official Trick-Or-Treating on a school night. At least they let the kids dance.
